This is tough to write – but we had to reach out.
One year ago today, a shooter armed with an assault weapon slaughtered 5 people and wounded 19 more at Club Q, an LGBTQ+ club in Colorado Springs.
In the year since, survivors and gun violence prevention activists have stood up in record numbers to demand change and call for a federal assault weapons ban.
Yet, nothing has changed.
Our streets are still flooded with these weapons of war.
Our communities are still being devastated by endless mass shootings.
Our lawmakers are still playing politics with our lives.
We will never stop working until assault weapons are banned once and for all and the endless bloodshed is over. But we can’t do it without your help.
We’re calling for 5 gifts from your city before midnight in honor of the five lives that were stolen too soon in the Club Q shooting. Each dollar goes directly to elect gun safety candidates nationwide who have the guts to stand up to the gun lobby and ban assault weapons, like the one used at Club Q, once and for all. Will you chip in $15 before midnight to help keep our movement going? >>
We need leaders in Congress who will stand up for our communities now more than ever.
Without action, there have been over 600(!!) mass shootings in 2023 alone.
That puts us on track to have one of the DEADLIEST years of gun violence on record.
Yet, cowardly lawmakers sit back and watch THOUSANDS die in preventable massacres.
We’ll stop at nothing to BAN assault weapons like the one that stole 5 lives in Colorado Springs a year ago – but we can’t do it alone. We need 5 gifts from your city before midnight to fully fund our efforts to get these weapons of war off the streets and REPLACE any lawmaker who refuses to do what it takes to end mass shootings. Will you stand with us, chip in $15, and help us ban assault weapons for good? Every dollar goes to support gun safety candidates dedicated to ending gun violence. >>
Thank you for working alongside us,
