This
morning I had the honor of giving a speech at the California Democratic
Party Convention.

The crowd of Democrats here is so electric, and this weekend has reminded
me just how important our work together is. [ [link removed] ]Before I share some of my
remarks with you, will you make a grassroots contribution to our
people-powered campaign?

Our advocacy is powerful, and our activism is inspiring — I saw that
firsthand growing up in the farmworkers movement. I watched my parents
fight for farmworkers with the UFW, watched Cesar Chavez build people
power, heard Dolores Huerta declare “Si, Se Puede!” and witnessed Philip
Vera Cruz organize everyday folks.

People like my mom and dad taught me we aren’t destined to be spectators
of the status quo. We don’t HAVE to accept the unacceptable. We’re
empowered to change the present and shape the future. Every day is an
opportunity to stand up for justice — we’ve just got to be brave enough to
seize it.

But I understand the deck feels stacked against us. In many ways, our
world is built to lift up people in power and push down everyone else. We
see it in the:

* Attacks on our LGBTQ+ community;
* Assaults on our reproductive rights;
* Housing crisis;
* Rampant epidemic of gun violence;
* Big corporations polluting our planet and hurting our children;
* Growing gap between the wealthy and everyone else.

At the same time, we’re witnessing a wave of bitter rhetoric and
hate-fueled crimes throughout our communities. MAGA Republicans are
waiting to drive into a darkness: a transphobic, homophobic, xenophobic,
anti-abortion, anti-immigrant, anti-worker, hateful, and, frankly,
un-American America. We can’t and won’t let them win.

[ [link removed] ]Our campaign directly depends on support from people like you, and we
need to consistently build the resources needed to keep up these critical
fights now and into the future. Can you chip in today?

As the People’s Attorney, I won’t let anyone destroy our progress. Through
your support, I’m taking on:

* Anti-abortion groups and crisis pregnancy centers;
* Big Oil, Big Tech, Big Pharma, and Big Tobacco;
* School boards that put transgender students in harm's way;
* The NRA and the gun lobby.

And we’re just getting started!

I’m fighting for you and your California Dream, but none of it would be
possible without you and Democrats across the state who are in it with us.
