Lesko Meetings this Week

This week, I joined thousands of others in Washington, D.C. to march in support of Israel. I, along with many others around the world, have been absolutely disgusted by the atrocities committed by Hamas against the Israeli people. I will always stand with Israel. 

It was great having the chance to meet with Tim Goeglein from Focus on the Family. It’s more important now than ever that Congress recognize the importance of strong family values.

This week, I had the chance to meet with Cox Communications and discuss the ways Congress can help them continue to provide their services to our district and the unique challenges facing telecommunications companies today.

I also had the chance to meet virtually with the Arizona Free Enterprise Club where we discussed the economy and how they are being impacted by the Biden Administration's radical climate agenda

GET THE FACTS: Border Crisis Continues to Surge

Compared to October 2020, October 2023 saw a 235% rise in illegal immigrant encounters at our Southern Border. 240,988 illegal immigrants were encountered at the U.S.-Mexico border in October including 12 individuals on the terrorist watchlist. Since President Biden took office, there have been 7.8 million illegal immigrant encounters nationwide, 6.5 million illegal crossings at our Southern Border, and 1.7 million known gotaways who evaded U.S. Border Patrol. This is unacceptable. October was the 32^nd straight month where illegal immigrant encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under President Trump. It’s long past time to secure our border.

Around the District

Team Lesko was invited to the Luke Air Force Base 944^th Fighter Wing’s Desert Hammer Exercise in Gila Bend, which was a multi-service exercise consisting of air and ground wartime practices. Over 300 members of the military participated. We’re always grateful for the opportunity to meet with and support our men and women in uniform.

Team Lesko attended the Anthem City Veterans Day Ceremony last weekend. To all veterans of the 8^th district, we appreciate you and your service to our great nation. Thank you!

Team Lesko attended the City of Glendale’s Veterans Day event this past weekend. Members of the Marine Corps League, Old Breed Detachment 767 raised the flags while a formation of F-35s from Luke Air Force Base provided a flyover.

Team Lesko attended the City of Peoria’s Veterans Day event. Over 50 names were added to the memorial wall at the Peoria Veterans Memorial.

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office after he was unable to get an update from the IRS on the status of an overdue tax refund payment. We contacted the IRS on the constituent’s behalf and located the tax return. As a result, the return was processed, and the constituent was able to receive their owed refund.
