Hi, John, my name is Christina Bohannan, and I just launched my campaign in Iowa's 1st Congressional District to defeat anti-abortion Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

I'm the daughter of a construction worker who worked long hours to make ends meet. Growing up in a trailer just off a dirt road, I never thought I would be the first in my family to go to college or become a law professor, let alone run for Congress.

Through hard work, strong public school teachers, student loans, and scholarships, I was able to make my way. That's the future I want for all Iowans, John, and it's that mission I kept top of mind when making the decision to run for Congress.

The reality is that too many Iowa families have been put second. My opponent Mariannette Miller-Meeks has put the Republican Party over our families. Time and time again, she's abandoned the best interests of her constituents to stand with divisive figures like Jim Jordan and Mike Johnson, voting against affordable drugs, good-paying jobs in Iowa, and abortion access.

I'm running for Congress because farmers, small-business owners, moms and dads – Iowans just like me – deserve dignity and a seat at the table. When I'm in Congress, I will put Iowans first. I will fight to make sure working people get a fair share of the wealth they create.
