We’ve filed an anti-SLAPP motion to have this case dismissed for what it is - a ridiculous and frivolous claim to silence critics of the world's richest man.
[[link removed]]Dear Friend,

CCDH’s lawyers have filed our response to Elon Musk and X/Twitter’s ridiculous
lawsuit against us. Our lawyers have systematically destroyed their arguments,
tearing away the nonsense to reveal Elon Musk as a thin-skinned bully who is
using the courts to try to silence his critics.

Let me break our response down for you:

* CCDH researches and publishes reports revealing how on matters of public
concern, social media companies, including X/Twitter, fail to enforce their
own rules, and this has allowed hate and lies to spread unchecked.
* X/Twitter has typically responded with a playbook of denying responsibility,
deflecting blame, and delaying taking action.
* Unhappy with being exposed, Elon Musk has aggressively pursued litigation to
silence us and punish us for daring to speak out. Sending a clear chilling
message to others who would dare speak out against him.
* Our lawyers have exposed every single one of Elon Musk’s accusations as
meritless, baseless, or plain wrong.

It’s a textbook case of “Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation”
(SLAPP). This lawsuit is meant to bully CCDH, discourage us from researching hate and
disinformation, and punish us for doing so. The goal is to make us spend a lot
of money on legal expenses and tie us up with complex legal proceedings.

That is why we’ve filed an anti-SLAPP motion
[[link removed]] to have this case dismissed for what it is - a ridiculous and frivolous claim
to silence critics of the world's richest man.

CCDH will not be bullied. We will not shy away from our mission to expose hate
and lies online and the platforms that profit from it.

Thanks to supporters like you, friend, we’ve been able to
fund this defense. Thousands of supporters have helped us raise over $100,000.
We’re confident that we can win this case. Our lawyers have put forward a
point-by-point demolition of Elon Musk's accusations.

Today marks the beginning of our fightback. We're ready to tackle this challenge
head-on. Friend, will you donate today and give us the
best chance to win against the world's richest man?

[[link removed]]If we win our anti-SLAPP motion, we will recover our costs. And those costs,
which you helped fundraise, will be put straight back into our work exposing
hate and lies on platforms like X/Twitter.

We have been overwhelmed by the support that the public has given us. Users of
X/Twitter know what we are saying is true. Just a cursory glance through the
platform can often reveal the kind of unchecked hate and lies we’ve been
exposing.

We can’t let Elon Musk win this case. It will set a precedent that any tech
billionaire or social media mogul can silence their critics for having the audacity to publish research in the public interest.

We can, and will, fight this.

P.S - I’m truly humbled to have the support of so many people in this case. This
is truly a people-powered campaign against the world's richest man. Did you know
that most people give $27 to help fund this fight back? Elon might have his money - but we have you. If you can, chip in today>> counterhate.com/donate
