November 17th, 2023 It has been another busy week at America First Legal. We filed a new lawsuit against Montgomery County Public School's (MCPS) Board of Education and Superintendent, Monifa Knight, on behalf of Matthew Foldi and Bethany Mandel, for violating our clients’ First Amendment and Maryland Open Meetings Act rights when the Board of Education denied our clients access to the June 27, 2023, Montgomery County Board of Education meeting. We filed two separate briefs this week - one in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, blasting racially discriminatory private sector actions in American Alliance for Equal Rights v. Fearless Fund Management, LLC, et al., and the other in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, defending Donald J. Trump's First Amendment rights in Jack Smith’s politically-motivated prosecution. Additionally, AFL President Stephen Miller sent letters to the Governor of Utah, the Director of the Utah Division of Professional Licensing, and the Utah state legislature demanding immediate action to stop the inhumane "gender treatments" occurring at the University of Utah’s Gender Management and Support Clinic.
