FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What if I am not a Ward 8 resident, can I still register?

We wish we could serve everyone, however, this event is for Ward 8 residents only. If there are turkeys remaining following the event, it will be at the discretion of the host site to provide a turkey to those in need.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

All sites are metro accessible. Most sites have parking lots. Sites without parking lots have street parking.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

For questions, please email: Kimberly Harper at [email protected] or call 202-724-8045. Please allow 1-2 business days for a response due to high call volumes.

Do I have to print my ticket to bring to the event?
No, you do not need a printed ticket. However, please have your confirmation email available for verification. The confirmation will be in the email you provided at registration.

Can I update my registration information?

Please be sure to register at the location that is most convenient for you. You will not be able to edit your pick-up site once your registration is complete.

This week, the Council did not hold a legislative meeting. The Committee of the Whole held a meeting on budgeting practices on DC Public Schools and a hearing on two measures relating to charter schools; the Committee on Executive Administration and Labor will hold hearings on the DC government’s sexual harassment policy and legislation regarding wages and pay scales.

The Mayor released two Emergency Mayoral Orders responding to the opioid crisis and youth crime on Monday, November 13. By declaring a public emergency, the Mayor is able to coordinate resources and deploy solutions on an expedited basis. The Mayor will be able to expedite data-sharing among District agencies and entities regarding non-fatal and fatal overdoses and create a plan of action based on the data received. In regard to youth crime, the Mayor will use the declared emergency to expedite the building of an additional unit at the youth services center and expand the number of placements available (to include shelters, group homes, independent living facilities, secure facilities, residential treatment centers, psychiatric treatment centers, and foster homes) to youth placed into the custody of the Department of Rehabilitation Services.
