Happy early Thanksgiving! Next week is a time for giving thanks, being with loved ones, watching football and enjoying so many wonderful traditions. As we gather around the table with family and friends, some of whom we haven’t seen all year, we know that the sore subject of politics can sometimes hang ominously over the festivities.

As No Labels has grown into a national movement challenging the partisan status quo, we’ve all faced our share of tough conversations. In a time where political discussions can often feel more like a battleground than a chat, we want to share some of our hard-won tips on how to navigate these talks with understanding and grace.
- Embrace Civility: Start with respect. Remember, everyone at your table cares deeply about our country, even if their views differ from yours. Approach each conversation with an open heart and an open mind.
- Listen More, Speak Less: Sometimes, the most powerful contribution we can make to a conversation is to listen. Give your family members the space to express their views without interruption. You might find more common ground than you expect.
- Focus on Shared Values: Try to steer the conversation towards shared goals and values. How can we work towards that together? Remember that the No Labels Common Sense policy playbook has 30 ideas to help the country that most Americans agree upon.
- Agree to Disagree: It's okay to have different opinions. Acknowledge these differences and remember that they don't define your entire relationship with your family members.
- Share your experience with No Labels. Discuss how we're working to bridge divides and encourage cooperation in politics. Talk about the ideas in Common Sense. And share why you believe a Unity presidential ticket could help bring our country back together.
Finally, remember that Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and connection. Let's cherish these moments with our loved ones and celebrate what unites us as a nation.
