LGBTQ+ Stories You Should Know About
Results rolling in: 2023 Wins Keep Coming!
Over the last week, more results have come in for our LGBTQ+ candidates around the country. So far, 238 LGBTQ+ candidates [[link removed]] have won their campaigns [[link removed]] , an all-time high for an odd year election cycle [[link removed]] !
In Snohomish County, Washington, Spotlight candidate Susanna Johnson defeated an incumbent candidate [[link removed]] and is now the first woman and first out LGBTQ+ person to serve as the Snohomish County Sheriff [[link removed]] ! Spotlight candidate Joy Hollingsworth won her race for the Seattle City Council, ensuring continued representation [[link removed]] . Clay Hale , running for the San Jose-Evergreen Community College Board in California, declared victory this week as well [[link removed]] .
In Arkansas, the Fayetteville City Council elections happened on November 14th. And there’s good news – our candidate Bob Stafford WON [[link removed]] ! He’ll be sworn into this previously vacant seat next week [[link removed]] .

More Elections to Come – Including Runoffs!
Despite these wins, we’re still not quite done with the 2023 elections!
In Utah, the general election will take place next Tuesday, November 21st. Watch Spotlight candidate Taylor Knuth’s final pitch to voters here [[link removed]] . If elected, he will be the first out LGBTQ+ mayor of Ogden and the first person of color elected in Ogden, UT! In Florida, two Victory Fund endorsed candidates made the runoffs – they’re also on the ballot November 21st! Damian Pardo , running for the City of Miami Commission, laid out the changes he would make if elected. Read up on his campaign here [[link removed]] !

Last but certainly not least, Spotlight candidates Mario Castillo [[link removed]] and Nick Hellyar [[link removed]] are both headed to the runoffs for the Houston City Council. Election Day is Saturday, December 9th [[link removed]] !
