There are a lot of heroes who risked their careers to stand up for our democracy during the Donald Trump years. Eugene Vindman is most assuredly one of those real heroes.

Eugene raised the alarm, along with his twin brother Alexander, about Trump’s actions with Ukraine, leading to his impeachment. And when he did, he lost his White House job in retaliation.

Eugene stood up for what was right, even though it cost him dearly. Now he’s running for Congress in a swing district in Virginia, and needs your support.

I first met Eugene when he accompanied his brother to testify before one of the House impeachment committee hearings I led. It wasn’t just Alex Vindman who blew the whistle, but Eugene as well.

Eugene was a Colonel in the U.S. Army, and assigned (like his twin brother) to the White House – a prestigious posting – as the senior ethics official at the National Security Council.

When he saw something that wasn’t ethical, that wasn’t right, and that harmed our national security, he raised the alarm.

Eugene had sworn an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. And even though his military career ended before its time, he never regretted doing the right thing. Never.

That’s why Eugene Vindman is now running for Congress. To continue his patriotic service. To continue standing up for what’s right, and true.

Because since that perilous moment in our nation’s history when Eugene and Alex stood up to Trump, MAGA Republicans have only become more extreme and their attacks on our democracy more and more dangerous.

MAGA Republicans are now fully in charge of the House, and even picked Mike Johnson as their Speaker – the so-called “mastermind” behind their attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

We need elected leaders with integrity and a commitment to democracy on the frontlines in the House, and that’s why I’m endorsing Eugene Vindman for Congress in Virginia.

We need people who will honor their oath, and bring tenacity to the fight to protect all we hold dear. That's Eugene Vindman.
