Dear John,

Today, YOUR emails to the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) made a difference! Science textbooks in Texas will NOT teach that humans evolved from monkeys!

Earlier this week, the Texas Values team testified at the SBOE to ask members to vote “no” or edit Science textbooks that presented evolution and the “Big Bang Theory” as fact, with no opportunity for students to explore the TRUTH that God is the creator of the universe and mankind. The most egregious textbook was a Biology book from McGraw Hill publishers that had an entire chapter about how humans evolved from monkeys! We asked the SBOE to either remove this chapter or vote “no” on this book.

Between Tuesday and today, your Texas Values team negotiated with publishers to remove the erroneous claim that humans evolved from monkeys. But one image of a chart linking numerous monkeys to the origin of a little girl still remained…

Until, you emailed the SBOE last night and told them to remove ALL references to humans evolving from monkeys!

The Texas State Board of Education voted unanimously to accept edits to remove from a Biology textbook from McGraw Hill publishers that had text and several images stating as fact that humans evolved from monkeys. A special vote was taken to remove the very last image of monkey evolution and it passed 13-0!

Also rejected by the SBOE were textbook materials from other publishers that failed to list evolution and the “Big Bang” as a “theory” and not allowing an opportunity for students to learn or express the idea of Creationism. One publisher had a reference to a scientist being a member of the LGBT community, but removed that reference before the final vote.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations, Texas Values released the following statement:

“We are thankful for the Texas SBOE voting down the heavily disputed theory that humans evolve from apes. Science should allow for students to analyze and draw conclusions and not for forcing ideologies that are inconsistent with the “Truth”. No textbook in schools should force students to hide their faith in the classroom.”

We have been at the State Board of Education all week testifying and advocating our case that Evolution is not a proven fact and students should be allowed to discover the truth of creation! We need your help now!

Victories like the one today can only happen with your financial support! We need to raise $600,000 by the end of this year! Click here to make a tax-deductible donation!

Also, consider sending an email to your SBOE member to thank them for their vote!
