John -
On Monday, 500 people shut down construction at the Cop City site. The
police once again responded to nonviolence with violence, and they used
tear gas and pepper spray to deter protestors. But those activists bravely
persisted and still managed to shut down construction for the day.
The people of Atlanta have been fighting for years to say no to Cop City,
which would destroy the largest canopy forest in Atlanta to build a huge
urban warfare training center for police.
Construction of the project—which is funded by both city tax dollars and
by some of the largest corporations in Atlanta—has continued against
community demands. The people on the frontlines of the struggle have
consistently faced serious state violence and repression, including
domestic terrorism charges. And yet they continue to fight back.
This is where you come in. The people of Atlanta need your support in the
struggle against state repression, police militarization, and
environmental injustice.

project possible, including the insurance companies. It’s time to call
Accident Fund Group, which is insuring the work on Cop City, and demand
that they cut ties with Cop City and with the Atlanta Police Foundation.

People power remains strong, and there are many ways that we and our
partners can still stay in—and win—this fight. When the Georgia State
police and the government of Atlanta won’t listen, we go after the
funders. We go after the insurers. We go after the construction companies.
And we stand with all those who have been arrested.
Our partners at Community Movement Builders have organized actions and
teach-ins to continue to correct the narrative on Cop City and stand with
those facing charges.^1 Organizers have also gathered 117,000 signatures
for a referendum in court, so that the people of Atlanta might get to vote
on Cop City.

violence, and climate injustice, you can help fight back by calling
Accident Fund Group to drop their support of Cop City.

Together, we can protect our environment, uphold community values, and
push back against overreach. Let’s stand united for Atlanta, for
democracy, and for our planet.
In solidarity,
