In many ways, a pandemic is a perfect storm. The many ways our government fails the working class are on full display.

Workers are being asked not to come into work if they show symptoms, but millions of Americans without paid sick leave can’t afford to take time off. High costs of healthcare mean the disease will be underdiagnosed in the United States more than other countries, which could lead to faster transmission.

The situation is untenable and terrifying. So many of us are one paycheck or one illness away from disaster.
