On Saturday at 3pm in Room MR 11, we are excited to show the documentary film The Mountain That Weeps ([link removed]) , which chronicles a contentious land-use battle in Riverside County between local residents, the Pechanga Band of Indians, and the Granite Construction Company which was trying to develop a quarry on a site held sacred to the Pechanga Tribe. “More than just a development vs environment story, The Mointain That Weeps explores which force is stronger, the power of community, the corruption of politics, or reverence for the sacred.” After the movie, we will host a discussion with Pechanga’s representative and friend of CYD Paula Treat.
For those unable to attend in Sacramento, you can watch the full version of the documentary film The Mountain That Weeps by clicking here ([link removed]) .
