My work in TX-31 and Congress   Howdy Texan – Another busy week in Washington. Read on to learn more about my work for Texas' 31st district in the U.S. House. ON THE DOCKET: Voting Against the Continuing Resolution Impeaching Mayorkas What do you think? No Remain in Texas THE BRIEF: A pro-Palestinian group posted a picture of multiple locations around New York City it alleges are associated with the "genocide" in Gaza, sending a veiled threat to Israel supporters. Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, there have been about 6.5 million illegal aliens encountered at the United States-Mexico border, according to a report from Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee. FBI Director Christopher Wray, speaking before Congress, warned that Hamas and other terrorist organizations might exploit the Israel-Hamas war to conduct attacks in the United States. VOTING AGAINST THE CONTINUING RESOLUTION I voted against the clean continuing resolution (CR) that Speaker Johnson brought to the floor this week. A vote on the CR was a vote to continue the spending of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer from the last Congress. As a chairman on the Appropriations Committee, my Military Construction and Veterans Affairs funding bill has been finished and passed since July. I want to see all 12 bills in the same position. I couldn't support a clean CR that doesn't address spending, border security, or any of the other pressing needs of our country. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass all 12 appropriations bills through Congress and have them signed into law because Americans deserve that.   IMPEACHING MAYORKAS Since Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas took office in 2021, there have been over 6.5 million illegal border crossings, according to CBP. For this Congress and the last, I am a cosponsor of legislation to impeach Secretary Mayorkas for his dereliction of duty. Earlier this week, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene aimed to force a vote on the floor to impeach Secretary Mayorkas. Unfortunately, a majority voted to send Representative Greene's resolution back to the Homeland Security Committee. I'm still pushing for this legislation to be passed to the floor. Secretary Mayorkas should be fired! WHAT DO YOU THINK? Should Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas be impeached? Yes No REMAIN IN TEXAS President Biden is considering a "remain in Texas" policy that would force Texas to carry all the weight of the open border. Texas Republicans and Governor Abbott are already doing President Biden's job to secure the border, so my Texas colleagues and I joined together to introduce legislation that would prohibit President Biden from implementing any kind of "remain in Texas" policy. Texas already bears the brunt of President Biden's failure at the border, and I say no more! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates. Representing you and Texas in the United States House is an honor and privilege. Sincerely, John R. Carter Visit our website! WC Willamson County 4411 S I 35 Frontage Rd.
