Dear Friend,
Immediately after Hamas began its assault on Israel, our office got to work helping to evacuate American citizens, working around the clock to provide updated information as the situation changed rapidly on the ground. I will never forget waking up on that Saturday morning stunned by Hamas' attack -- the most horrific evil against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. I denounced Hamas' unjust act of war then, and have been working nonstop to support Israel as they undertake a necessary mission to eliminate the murderous terrorists of Hamas.
In the last 41 days, as we have learned more disturbing details about the horrific acts of evil committed by Hamas in their terrorist attack against Israel, our nation has experienced a concerning uptick in antisemitism at home. I’m deeply troubled by the rise in antisemitism at home and abroad, and am working to combat this disturbing trend.
As your Representative in Congress, I wanted to share with you my thoughts and work with my colleagues to support our ally Israel and combat antisemitism.
Exactly one month after Hamas launched its barbaric attack, I joined hundreds of my colleagues from both sides of the aisle for a candlelight vigil for the victims and hostages of Hamas’ terrorist attacks. Led by our new House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries, we were joined by several family members of hostages. I’m praying for the safety of the hostages and demand their immediate release.
Supporting Israel in its War Against Hamas
In October, I co-sponsored and voted for a resolution condemning the barbaric war launched by Hamas and standing with Israel as it defends itself.
I was glad that Speaker Johnson moved quickly to bring a standalone Israel aid bill to the floor. On November 2nd, we passed this bipartisan bill, which will send $14.3 billion in emergency aid to Israel, helping them replenish munitions for the Iron Dome that protects them against constant rocket attacks from Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad, and restock supplies as they continue their war to eliminate Hamas from Gaza.
This week, our office joined nearly 300,000 Americans at the March for Israel, showing our strong support for Israel and demanding an immediate release of the hostages. I'm grateful for the hundreds of North Texans who traveled to D.C. to show their solidarity!
Combatting Antisemitism on our College Campuses
I’ve been ashamed of my alma mater, Cornell University, which has allowed antisemitism to fester among professors and students alike. As you may have seen, Cornell Professor Russell Rickford admitted he found Hamas’ terrorist attacks “exhilarating” and “energizing” and a Cornell student was later arrested for making online death threats against Jewish students.
This week, I joined my Ways and Means Committee colleagues for a hearing focused on antisemitism on college campuses. We heard from Talia Dror, a student at Cornell University, Adam Lehman, who is the President & CEO of Hillel International, Jonathan Greenblatt, who serves as CEO and National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, and several other witnesses. During our hearing, we discussed an action I strongly support to revoke the tax-exempt status of universities that fund, promote, or otherwise allow antisemitic activity.

I joined Newsmax to discuss our effort to hold these universities accountable. You can click here or on the image below to watch my interview.
Punishing Iran
Shortly after Hamas launched its terrorist attacks, I called for freezing all Iranian assets, imposing immediate sanctions, and sending an unequivocal message that any further aggression by Hamas or Hezbollah would result in destructive consequences for Iran. Earlier in the year, I voted to sanction Iran’s Supreme Leader and his inner circle. |
