[ [link removed] ]Sign the petition NOW to stop outrageous Paxlovid markups before it
hits the commercial market!
Dear MoveOn member,
Paxlovid—the FDA-approved Pfizer drug used to treat mild to moderate cases
of COVID-19—will lose its emergency use authorization by the end of the
year and will no longer be available to the general public for free.^1 And
even worse, Pfizer announced that it's planning on price gouging this
critical treatment that has reduced hospitalizations and literally saved
lives since it was introduced back in 2021.^2
[ [link removed] ]We have TWO MONTHS to fight back against Big Pharma and demand Paxlovid
remain affordable and accessible to everyone—especially as COVID-19 cases
surge nationwide.
Right now, Paxlovid costs just $13 to make and is available for free to
those who need it. But Pfizer is planning to exploit it and sell it for
nearly $1,400 starting next year.^3 That’s a staggering 10,000% price
markup.
[ [link removed] ]Graphic of a tweet from @luckytran that says "Pfizer says it will price
Covid treatment Paxlovid at $1,390 for a five-day course, which
researchers estimate only costs Pfizer $13 to produce. That's a 10,000%+
markeup. Shameful."
Earlier this year, Moderna was going to increase the price of the
taxpayer-funded COVID-19 vaccine to 4,700% of what it costs to make. But
we came together to stop them, and we succeeded.^4 Let's unite again, stop
Pfizer's unconscionable corporate greed, and prevent them from price
gouging this lifesaving medicine.
[ [link removed] ]Add your name to urge President Biden to STOP corporate profiteering
off of COVID-19 treatments before the end of the year and guarantee access
to all Americans.
Tell Biden to STOP Pfizer from profiting off of this lifesaving and
necessary medication!

Pfizer became the first-ever Big Pharma company to bring in $100 billion
in revenue. That’s right, $100 billion.^5 Pfizer executives have amassed
an egregious amount of wealth, while millions of Americans struggle to
afford essential medications. This is corporate greed, plain and simple.
Pfizer’s CEO doesn’t need any more millions—he made $33 million in 2022
alone.^6 Meanwhile, more than 1 in 3 people in the U.S. have skipped
filling their needed prescriptions due to financial burdens.^7 It is
immoral that Big Pharma rakes in millions at the expense of everyday
families, who then can’t access the care they need.
[ [link removed] ]The Biden administration has committed to holding Big Pharma
accountable.^8 Now is the time to fulfill that promise and ensure that
essential, lifesaving COVID-19 treatments remain accessible to those who
need them most.
Black and Latinx communities are not only more likely to be hospitalized
or die from COVID-19, they are also more likely not to be treated with
Paxlovid.^9 Pfizer's price hikes could worsen already existing racial
disparities. Our government should be working to increase access to
COVID-19 testing and treatment, not giving Big Pharma a pass to profit off
of sickness.
[ [link removed] ]Together we can stop Big Pharma's greed. Sign the petition and then
share with three of your friends.
Thanks for all you do.
