We hope you have had a great week! Around Veterans Day each year, it is our honor to help show our communities’ gratitude for their selfless service. This past week and weekend, it was great to speak with veterans about how we can help them access their benefits, connect them to VA assistance, hear their stories at our town hall, and more! We hope our local veterans and military families were able to feel their country’s thanks for all they’ve given and we look forward to continuing our commitment to them year-round.

It was also a busy week in Washington as Congressman Kim prioritized American families and bipartisanship to make sure the government had the funding needed to stay open!

Congressman Kim Holds Annual Veterans Town Hall in Holmdel, Honors Local Military Community for Veterans Day

It was great to be with so many neighbors at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Museum in Holmdel for Congressman Kims annual veterans town hall, his 69th month town hall! We appreciated our panel of local veterans for sharing their experience while in service and lessons that they wanted future generations to know.

Our office was also happy to help put on a Veterans Services Expo in Mercer County and host a Telephone Claims Consultations Clinic to help veterans, servicemembers, and their loved ones access and understand local resources available to them. Congressman Kim Votes to Avert a Government Shutdown

The Congressman’s statement after voting on Tuesday to prevent the government from shutting down.

“Today we voted to protect the country from a government shutdown. After the Republicans wasted weeks of valuable time entertaining extreme political wishlists, I was able to vote for a continuing resolution clean of poisonous policies and help uphold Congress' basic duty: to fund the government. It is disappointing so many members of the Majority party chose to abandon that duty today.

At a time when stability and accountability is imperative to Americans and global allies, House Republicans’ continue to choose unpredictability and chaos. This funding approach is guaranteed to bring us back to a last-minute scramble just after the New Year to avert another potential shutdown. Americans deserve a government they can rely on year-round, not just in weeks-long increments. I will keep working toward a full-year funding agreement that supports families and our allies abroad.”

Celebrating Advancement for Women’s Health: Better Tools, Better Care, Better Lives

This week, the Biden administration announced the first-ever White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. This is an important step to improve women’s lives across the country. Congressman Kim is committed to making sure Congress is a true partner in the effort. From ending the Black maternal health crisis to expanding women’s mental healthcare, he is ready to see this comprehensive and research-backed approach help bring more tangible help for women and help save lives.

Two Years of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law!

This Wednesday, we celebrated two years since Congressman Kim helped pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and secured historic investments to fix New Jersey’s D+ rated infrastructure. The law has delivered billions for projects across the state, delivering for roadway safety, clean water, lower internet and energy costs, and rail and Amtrak investments.

From progress for the Gateway Tunnel to opening up affordable internet options for hundreds of thousands of New Jersey families, this law is a huge deal for our state. For infrastructure, new jobs, protecting our environment, boosting local innovation, and keeping our communities safe, it will also deliver for generations to come.

Congressman Kim’s Statement on President Biden’s meeting with General Secretary Xi

“The two most powerful nations in the world need to find ways to have dialogue with one another even as there are significant disagreements on critical issues. I support President Biden’s decision to meet with General Secretary Xi and to make clear what America is doing to strengthen our competitiveness for decades to come. Congress must reinforce this push to secure America’s strength by increasing our capabilities to build a global coalition of partner nations, working together in a comprehensive way to ensure both military and economic security, and to strategically invest in our own innovation and workforce talent to help us lead the dynamic growth of the future. I stand ready to work with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to provide this support and strengthen America’s competitiveness through this century.”

World Diabetes Day

We’re proud to have capped the price of insulin for seniors on Medicare at $35/month. On World Diabetes Day this week, we emphasized that our work isn’t done until everyone who needs it has affordable access to this life-saving medicine.

Transgender Awareness Week

This week, we helped recognize Transgender Awareness Week to celebrate and uplift trans and non-binary voices and help stand up for everyone’s right to live free from hate.

Everyone deserves equality. Everyone deserves to belong. We must and will continue working for this.
