The past few months have been busy for the fair maps movement!
June: The Supreme Court’s ruling in Allen v. Milligan overturned Alabama’s congressional maps, holding that Republicans had illegally diluted Black voting power.
A.G. Holder: “[This ruling] will have impacts far beyond the borders of Alabama”
A few weeks later: Another Court order opened the door for Louisiana’s racially discriminatory maps to also be redrawn.
A.G. Holder: “As a result of this order, Black voters in Louisiana are one step closer to receiving a fair, compliant map . . . that they have tenaciously fought for.”
September: “Florida judge rules DeSantis’ redistricting map is unconstitutional, orders it redrawn” (PBS News Hour)
And just last month: Another court overturned Georgia’s gerrymandered maps.
A.G. Holder: “Another significant win for voters . . . New maps for 2024 elections.”
