We know that running a successful government and impactful programs means getting the details right and not skimping on key ingredients.
Friend,
With Thanksgiving coming up, many of us are preparing to host or join friends and family for a meal made up of time-tested recipes we’ve enjoyed for years. Take a pumpkin pie, for example. Pumpkin pie is a tried and true Thanksgiving staple, beloved for its sweet, creamy texture and perfect crust.
Imagine if someone came into your kitchen, took your only can of pumpkin, and you were left to devise a way to cook and serve a pumpkinless pie to your grandmother.
That is what Republicans are doing to our government programs and funding – without attention to the details, they arbitrarily slash budgets and skimp on the American people.
In September, their attempted blanket 30% cut across government programs would have left 250,000 children without childcare; 1 million seniors without Meals on Wheels; 3.2 million women and infants without nutritional assistance; 145,000 teachers and staff removed from schools, 850,000 households without Housing Choice Vouchers and much much more.
Whether your family sticks with a traditional turkey, serves pavochón, loves green beans, or looks forward to making pasteles together – we all know that the flavors we’ve perfected come from a specific mix of ingredients, and if anything is missing, it can compromise the whole dish.
