Highlighting the best of Claremont in 2023

END OF YEAR UPDATES

The note below is part of a series of emails highlighting Claremont’s success over the past year, some behind-the-scenes, some never-told, all game-changing. We hope you delight in and are inspired by these achievements. They are your victories as much as ours. Tough battles are on the horizon. But we at the Claremont Institute are happy warriors. And we hope we can count on you remaining by our side as we approach 2024. Thank you for all of your support.

Dear John,

To paraphrase Christopher Marlowe, the Claremont Institute is the think tank that launched a thousand fellows. That’s about how many up-and-coming conservative leaders and thinkers we’ve educated since we started our educational fellowships programs back in 1979.

For historic context, our inaugural Publius class began with only two fellows in 1979. Since then, we’ve added four more fellowships—Lincoln, John Marshall, Speechwriters, and Sheriffs—and expanded all of them to 14 slots. Today, it’s safe to say that nearly every prominent thinker and doer on the Right has made their pilgrimage through our programs.

We take pride in our fellows, and there are simply too many to acknowledge individually. Let me draw attention to a few recent alumni that I encourage you to keep an eye on:

Saurabh Sharma, a 2021 Publius Fellow, continues to wow. He co-founded American Moment ([link removed] ) , one of the most active, consequential new think tanks in the conservative world.

Amanda Milius, a 2022 Lincoln Fellow, is a celebrated film director. Her 2020 documentary concerning President Donald Trump, The Plot Against the President ([link removed] ) , is one of the most-watched political documentaries of all time.

Kathryn Mizelle, from our 2017 Marshall class—whom we now have the pleasure of referring to as the Honorable Kathryn Mizelle—is the judge on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida that struck down the COVID airline mask mandate.

Sheriff Chad Bianco is a 2021 Sheriffs Fellow from Riverside County, CA. In recognition of his exceptional leadership, we are delighted to present him with the 2023 American Sheriff Award.

Your continued support allows us to continually cultivate the very best intellectual leaders in the conservative world. They are grateful, and so are we.
