Dear Neighbors,
I joined consumer safety leaders, health care providers, and parents at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune this week to announce legislation I'm introducing to ban water beads marketed for kids. Water beads are colorful, water absorbing balls that are sold as children’s toys and often look like candy.
They may look and sound fun, but the reality is these colorful products can become deadly or cause serious injuries when swallowed by children. That’s why I’m introducing the Ban Water Beads Act, which would protect our nation’s little ones from this threat by directing the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to enforce a ban on all water beads marketed for use by kids.
Rally for Israel on the National Mall
I was proud to join the thousands of people who came to our nation’s capital to peacefully support Israel and call for the immediate release of all hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. I was inspired by the huge turnout and will continue to stand with Israel and against antisemitism. Now more than ever, we must support the Jewish community as they continue to face increasing acts of discrimination. Congress must fulfill President Biden’s request and provide Israel with the essential security assistance it needs to defend itself and eliminate Hamas.
Celebrating Two Years Since the Signing of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law
In the two years since President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, it has grown our economy and created good-paying jobs nationwide. I fought hard to include programs in the bill that are helping Americans clean up toxic waste sites, transition to clean energy, and make our drinking water safer. To date, the Biden Administration has already announced nearly $400 billion in infrastructure funding, including over 40,000 specific projects and awards in all 50 states.
This historic legislation brought significant funding to New Jersey to improve our roads, bridges, water infrastructure, and more. These investments are paying huge dividends with many infrastructure projects in our state currently underway. I'll keep working with the Biden Administration to ensure this critical funding continues to deliver for communities in my district and our state.
Another Continuing Resolution
I voted in support of a short-term Continuing Resolution because it is imperative that Congress keep the government open and funded. It's been abundantly clear for months now that Republicans are incapable of funding the government on their own. House Democrats are ready to work across the aisle for the good of the country, but we won't find common ground with extremists determined to cut funding for essential programs. I’m committed to delivering a federal spending bill that meets the needs of my constituents, provides essential security assistance for Israel and Ukraine, and preserves funding for the essential programs that many Americans rely on.
