Creating an Oldham we can be even more proud of.
Â
If you have visited Oldham town centre recently, you've probably seen a lot going on. We're working hard to make both old and new places livelier.
TJ Hughes is gone, and we're getting ready to build the new Tommyfield Market and events space. Check our [live stream for updates.]([link removed])
Â
On the High Street, we're making the town centre safer and more beautiful, as we did with Hilton Square. More plants, trees, and places to relax are coming, and there's a plan for a new town centre park.
Near the bus station, we're connecting Oldham to the Bee Network, making it easier and safer to walk or bike. The Old Library is getting a makeover, keeping its charm for a new generation.
Progress isn't just in the town centre; it's happening across the borough. Royton Library, Broadway Green workspace, and Northern Roots urban farm are taking shape. We've built more homes than we aimed for, and our partnership with Muse is set to create even more across the town centre.
We're changing Oldham to be a great place to live and work. Regeneration isn't just about improving our town; it's creating jobs and opportunities. Muse is teaming up with Oldham College to help students in the property industry. We've also spent over £24m with local suppliers, supporting our communities.
We're not just making a better place; we're creating chances for our community to succeed. Read more about Oldham's changes on [our webpage.]([link removed])
[Interfaith Week]
It's Interfaith Week.
Â
Interfaith Week is a time for everyone in Oldham to think about and celebrate all the different faiths in our town.
Â
It's about being good neighbours and learning from one another.Â
We're all different, and that's what makes our community diverse and amazing.

The gift of giving at ChristmasÂ
Â
Due to the increasing Cost of Living, sadly many vulnerable children in Oldham may go without gifts this Christmas.
Â
You can help by giving unwrapped gifts.
Â
Any gift is welcome, but please don't give food or drinks. We really need gifts for teenagers this year.
Libraries accepting gifts are Oldham, Failsworth, Chadderton, Crompton, and Uppermill.
Donations will be accepted until Friday 24 November to give our elves time to wrap and distribute the gifts to our mini residents. Thank you for your support.

It's Transgender Awareness Week.
Â
We stand proudly with Oldham's transgender community.Â
Â
This one-week event is celebrated around the country to help raise visibility and address issues members of the transgender community face.Â
Â
This leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance on Monday 20 November. As we remember this day let's come together as a community.
