The Maine Office of Aging and Disability Services (OADS) is excited to announce a new job opportunity supporting adults with disabilities.?

?Independent Support Brokers? are professionals who help adults with disabilities (the ?Members?) understand Maine?s self-directed waiver services. Support Brokers provides skills training and guidance to Members to help them direct and manage their waiver services. Support Brokers may:

  • Act as a ?connector? to help the Member identify people, places, and ways that they can contribute to and belong to their communities.?
  • Provide information and assistance to help the Member exercise choice and control over their community services and supports.?
  • Help the Member identify, hire, and manage their direct care workers.??
  • Assist the Member with managing their self-direction budget.

Independent Support Brokers are self-employed and can set their hours and schedule in conjunction with the Members they support. The pay rate is up to $68/hour.

We are offering virtual information sessions to explain the Independent Support Broker position in more detail and to answer questions, including how you may qualify for funding to become a Support Broker.?
