Lawmakers to Gather for Organization Day
|
On Tuesday, Nov. 21, I will gather with fellow lawmakers at the Statehouse for Organization Day.
This day is the ceremonial start of the Indiana General Assembly and marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. It also provides members of the Indiana Senate and House of Representatives the chance to meet before the legislative session officially reconvenes in January.
By state law, the 2024 legislative session must conclude on or before March 14.
As the legislative session begins, I encourage you to contact me with any questions or comments you may have by email at [email protected] or by phone at 800-382-9467. |

More than $2.8 Million Awarded Locally
|
Local communities will receive more than $2.8 million to improve roads and bridges thanks to the Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) Program.
The CCMG Program, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana's roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded nearly $1.5 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.
In Senate District 17, the following communities received grants.
- Converse
received $288,551.58
- Gas City received $127,110
- Huntington received $496,507.60
- Jonesboro received $139,726.27
- North Manchester received $510,674.99
- Sweetser received $152,625
- Wabash received $236,379.74
- Wabash County received $868,501.98
It is important for our infrastructure to be safe and well-maintained, as Indiana prides itself on being a business- and talent-friendly state. I am pleased to see our local leaders recognize this need and invest in improving our roads and bridges.
