Dear Reader,
Every three months, I sit down with PublicSource’s leadership team to conduct our Quarterly Beat Review, where we look at all of the stories we’ve put out, talk about the ways our team has innovated and collaborated, and see what’s different in our region as a result of our work. It’s rare for that meeting to end on time, because there are always so many things we want to make sure we highlight. Then, once a year, we comb through notes from those meetings, reader comments and mentions by other media organizations, and pull out some of the most notable impacts for our annual Impact Report.
As I read through this year’s report, I’m amazed at the variety of impacts that our newsroom has brought — from the deeply personal reflections of sexual assault survivors, to changed policy at local institutions, to being cited in national and international publications. Everyone on our team has contributed to these accomplishments — and the members who have supported our work financially have helped make it all possible.
I’m incredibly proud of our team’s accomplishments, and it’s my great pleasure to share this year’s Impact Report with you. I don’t think you’ll be surprised to learn that our journalism has real value and makes a difference in our region; after all, you’re one of our most loyal readers… but you’re not a current member.* I hope the report inspires you to take advantage of a limited-time opportunity to get your new monthly gift matched x12, or your one-time gift doubled. Your gift of any amount supports the costs of the high-quality reporting that you value, and helps us keep our region accountable and informed.
On behalf of our entire newsroom, our deepest thanks in advance.
Warmly,
Alyia Paulding
