Hey friend, have you heard?

The State of California is OFFICIALLY SUING fossil fuel companies for their contributions to the climate crisis we’re already experiencing, and for how they deceived politicians and the public about their wrongdoings every step of the way.

This is not the first time fossil fuel companies have been sued for causing climate change, but California is the largest economy to ever do so.

But I’m not just here to raise your awareness about this ongoing lawsuit.

I’m here to tell you that this lawsuit, along with the passage of the two biggest climate bills in the nation this year — SB 253 and SB 261 — are creating the perfect political conditions for the divestment of fossil fuels by our state’s massive pension programs!

Friend, I wrote up a blog explaining why there’s no better time to divest from fossil fuels and why, and I’d love if you took a moment to read it >>

Fossil fuel divestment has been successful in other states, has been proven to be financially prudent, and is supported by many powerful California electeds as well as state employees who benefit from the public pension program.

And California’s legislature has made progress in divesting our public pensions from fossil fuels with this year’s introduction of SB 252 (The Fossil Fuel Divestment Act) authored by Senator Lena Gonzalez.

SB 252 made it successfully through the Senate in 2023, but was unfortunately stalled in an Assembly committee. The bill is going to make its way back in the 2024 legislative session, and it’s so critical that the bill passes and is signed into law next year.

Friend, take a moment to get yourself up-to-date on fossil fuel divestment politics in California by reading my blog! >>

Thank you so much for staying informed!
