Did you see what happened last night in our nation’s capital?
The scenes were horrifying: Around 200 anti-Israel rioters fighting police and trying to intimidate pro-Israel members of Congress.
Pro-Israel Congressman Brad Sherman (D-CA) said he had to be “evacuated from [Democratic party headquarters] after pro-terrorist, anti-Israel protestors grew violent, pepper spraying police officers and attempting to break into the building.”
This violence and intimidation are unacceptable. Anti-Israel agitators are threatening our elected officials over their support for Israel.
Capital police officers were assaulted and pepper sprayed. Congress was forced to lock down. A female officer was punched in the face. In a statement, the United States Capital Police said, “We have handled hundreds of peaceful protests, but last night’s group was not peaceful.”
Just the day before, nearly 300,000 pro-Israel Americans gathered in Washington D.C. to show their support for Israel – and there was no violence, no attacks on police, no intimidation.
The difference between those who stand with Israel and those who support its enemies could not be clearer.
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
