Independent Women’s Forum is delighted to announce that Judith Bowman, who specializes in teaching business etiquette and founded the National Civility Foundation and Protocol Consultants International, is the latest in our popular series of Champion Women profiles.

In a world in which the Speaker of the House ferociously rips up her copy of the President’s State of the Union Address before the eyes of millions of viewers, we thought it imperative to hear from Ms. Bowman. She works with CEOs, politicians, and even royalty. She has an important message for everybody who wants to see a restoration of civility.

While Ms. Bowman is concerned with timeless, traditional rules and codes of conduct and behavior, she delves into the values essential for a civil society: trust, personal contact, and respect for others. Developing trust is an important topic in her handbook of business conduct, Don’t Take the Last Donut.

Ms. Bowman is in the process of completing her third book Modern Day Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior, which takes its cue from George Washington’s famous 110 Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior. Some of Washington’s rules still apply, others don’t. But the spirit that imbues them has not changed.

We know you will enjoy hearing from Judith Bowman, who has thought deeply about the civility crisis that confronts us—and who has some wise ideas on how to heal the incivility we face in our own lives and every time we turn on the news.

We were so impressed with her that we wish she would open a branch office on Capitol Hill!
