It’s official: the American Israel Public Affairs Committee — one of the wealthiest and most powerful PACs in the country — is recruiting Democratic primary challengers to defeat Alexandria and six other members of the Squad next year.
AIPAC is gearing up to spend at least $100 million to unseat the Squad. They don’t like that we support a bilateral ceasefire in Gaza, even though that’s an opinion shared by a large majority of Americans.
They’ve already found challengers for Representatives Bush, Bowman, Lee, and Omar. Now they’re looking for one for us.
To AIPAC, it apparently doesn’t matter that criticism of the Israeli government’s indiscriminate bombardment of Palestinians is virtually non-existent among U.S. politicians. As far as they’re concerned, the only acceptable level of dissent is zero.
AIPAC spent $30 million in last year’s Democratic primaries, much of it targeted on defeating progressive candidates, and especially candidates of color. While their attack ads rarely mention the conflict in the Middle East, AIPAC disproportionately messages against champions of progressive policies — all while providing unconditional support to the 109 Republicans who refused to certify the 2020 presidential election.
