FIRST: Washington, D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb reportedly launched an investigation into conservative activist Leonard Leo and his sprawling network of dark money groups, which have spent billions to move the judiciary to the right.
BUT THEN: House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer launched an investigation into the D.C. attorney general’s reported investigation, accusing him of having political motivations, under the pretense of concerns about donor privacy.
SO NOW: CREW drafted a letter to Jim Jordan and James Comer demanding they stop their interference into the reported ongoing investigation into Leonard Leo.
Stand with CREW and co-sign our letter demanding Jim Jordan and James Comer stop interfering in the investigation into Leonard Leo →
Congressional interference in an ongoing investigation by local law enforcement is not legitimate oversight – it’s a weaponization of Congress’s oversight power and it threatens to undermine our justice system.
Instead of continuing this effort to interfere in an ongoing investigation by launching inquiries based on misinterpretations of the law, Congress should prioritize advancing bipartisan oversight reforms.
We need to stop Jim Jordan and James Comer from interfering with this reported investigation. Help us put on the pressure by co-signing our letter today →
Thank you,
