Democrats did it again, John. We stopped the government from shutting down despite extreme MAGA Republican opposition. (Hopefully, they won’t send our government into chaos again by ousting the Speaker over it).

Democrats fought hard for a balanced and bipartisan resolution, and we got it. MAGA Mike Johnson agreed to put forth a package devoid of cuts or extremist right-wing policy riders in order to avoid a costly government shutdown.
This means employees won’t be furloughed, government contractors won’t be laid off, essential workers like air traffic controllers will get a paycheck, and National Parks and museums will stay open - all right before the holidays.
All of this is possible because Democrats - including Connecticut’s entire Congressional delegation - stood united for our economy, our workers, and our country.
But, like I said earlier this week, we’ll be facing deja vu all over again. The same battle awaits Congress in just a few short months.
