Tell the Biden Administration:
Stop Approving Methane Gas Exports

The largest methane gas export project on record in the United States is being proposed in southwest Louisiana.

If approved, it would be equal to TWENTY TIMES the annual emissions of the Willow drilling project recently approved in Alaska.

Friend — The Department of Energy (DOE) is currently considering the single biggest application to export liquefied methane gas — a project called Calcasieu Pass 2 (CP2) in southwest Louisiana.

If approved, this gas export facility would exacerbate the climate crisis, worsen the already hazardous air quality in the region from other existing operations, and further perpetuate environmental injustices in impacted communities.

We need your signature today: tell the DOE not to approve CP2 or any other methane gas projects. Doing so will only be detrimental to the environment and surrounding communities. Please — add your name right now, Friend >>

We simply cannot afford more climate-polluting projects like this one. A new analysis revealed that the entire ground-to-combustion lifecycle of liquified natural gas (LNG) would be just as dirty as burning coal — and in some cases, even worse. To put it into perspective, the proposed CP2 gas export project would be twenty times the annual emissions of the Willow drilling project recently approved in Alaska.

Stopping this is critical. This past summer was the hottest on record, causing illness, death, and damage around the world. Continuing to approve projects that expand the United States’ exports of methane gas will only increase the danger to people and our planet. We need to act on this right now — time is running out to save our climate before it’s too late.

Tell the Department of Energy: no approval for CP2. Approving this project will only set us back from our climate goals. It will just take a moment, so add your name right now >>

Thank you for taking action to protect our environment and communities.

Onward,

LCV Dirty Energy Team
