A safe and supportive school environment is critical for students with T1D to manage their disease, achieve optimal glycemic stability, and minimize complications. The NCPD program, Developing Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) and Creating a Toolkit for Students with Type 1 Diabetes, initially presented at Virtual NASN2022 and newly released in the NASN Learning Center, reviews potential facilitators and barriers for school nurses and school districts to the provision of care for students with T1D, discusses how the CPGs are operationalized via the Toolkit, and offers recommendations for next steps: how to distinguish between current practice and evidence-based research surrounding CPGs and how to implement school health-centered policy from CPGs that is relevant for practicing school nurses. This program is free for NASN members!
