Eugene Vindman is running for Congress in Virginia.

Born in Ukraine during the Cold War, Eugene’s father brought him and his twin brother, Alex Vindman, to the United States looking for a better life.

They found it. Eugene and Alex grew up in Brooklyn and became United States Army officers. Eugene is a combat veteran of the Iraq War.

But you probably wouldn’t know about Eugene or his brother Alex if it wasn’t for a call Trump made to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. Alex reported Trump’s call to the lead ethics officer in the National Security Council. That officer just happened to be Eugene.

Trump dragged the Vindman brothers through the mud, as did most of the Republican Party. It destroyed their military careers. It changed their lives forever. But if you ask them, they’d do it all over again because doing the right thing matters.

That takes courage. And America needs courageous leaders right now.
