Friend, the Project HOPE community always comes together to help when health care and medical workers are at risk. So many of you have given generously in response to the escalation of violence and threats to health care in places like Gaza, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Sudan and Haiti. Thank you.
As an essential part of our team, we want you to have the latest updates. Please know we're doing all we can to save lives and protect the wellbeing of children and families — whether it's in Gaza where we're delivering 750 hygiene kits, blankets and mattresses, as well as medical supplies and medicines to support 10,000 people; or in Ukraine where, just a few days ago, our teams came under artillery fire at a Kherson hospital and had to quickly get to a shelter…

Thankfully, our staff are all safe, but three people lost their lives and 12 more were injured. Health workers and people seeking medical care should never be targets.

In Gaza, conditions for children and families continue to deteriorate. At last count, the World Health Organization has documented 521 deaths and 686 injuries from the hundreds of attacks on health facilities in Gaza in the past weeks. The two largest hospitals, Al-Shifa and Al-Quds, are non-functioning. Al Shifa hospital was caring for 39 premature babies who had to be moved out of their incubators, leading to three deaths. Many more lives are at risk if a solution is not found soon.

Project HOPE continues to call for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians and health facilities, the release of all civilian hostages, respect for international humanitarian law, and unhindered humanitarian access to all of Gaza. In the photo above, you can see your support at work as lifesaving hygiene kits, including bottled water and water purification tablets are being readied for entry into Gaza.
