John,

I wanted to give you a brief update about the COVID-19 outbreak, and the steps we are taking in Congress to keep our state safe and healthy:

Earlier this week, Congress passed a bipartisan bill for emergency funding to address the outbreak of the coronavirus in the United States. This bill allocates $8.3 billion, and among many other things, provides resources to boost testing for the virus and provide treatment to those already infected. Many of those dollars will go straight to Washington state, where the need is high and increasing.

Friday it was signed into law and is a step in the right direction to ensuring states have the resources necessary to keep our communities safe. To read more about the bill, click here.

As a doctor and as your congresswoman, the health and well-being of all Washingtonians is my utmost priority. I will continue to do everything in my power to slow the spread of this disease, protect our first responders and healthcare workers, support research, and protect vulnerable populations.

I will continue to monitor the spread of the virus in Washington state and keep you updated.

Thanks,

Kim
