Neighbors,

With new confirmed cases of the Coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) in Massachusetts, I wanted to reach out with a few precautionary reminders and updates.

The state and our local governments are working together with the Department of Health, the CDC, and our hospitals to contain the virus and ensure every person has access to diagnostic tests and treatment.

With that said, we all have a responsibility to help slow the spread of the virus in our state and keep people safe. Please cough and sneeze into your elbow, avoid physical contact with those who may be ill, wash your hands regularly (especially before eating, or after coughing or sneezing), stay home if you are sick, and disinfect frequently touched objects with a regular household cleaning spray.

If you experience symptoms of the Coronavirus, contact your physician or the Massachusetts infectious disease hotline at (617) 983-6800. The Department of Health recommends that you call your healthcare provider before you go in if you are experiencing symptoms, so they can prepare for your visit. If you have questions about symptoms or would like more information on preventative care, please visit The Massachusetts Department of Public Health's website.

I understand this is an alarming and uncertain time for many of us, but I want to reiterate that while cases have been found in Massachusetts, the threat to the public is low. By following preventative measures and listening to local officials, we can ensure that the threat is mitigated as much as possible.

Thank you for your attention - I'll do everything I can to stay in touch with any updates moving forward!
