Hi John, it’s Abbey. I’m a teacher of 32 years and a survivor of the Sandy Hook school shooting.
Mass shootings have become a far too familiar headline. I’m tired of constantly thinking about an escape plan or how I would hide my students. I’m tired of mourning friends, students, and coworkers.
So I decided to turn my anger into action. I’ve spent the last 2 years empowering fellow teachers to become activists and use their voice to end gun violence in our communities – and we’re making progress. But the system is designed to work against us.
