FIRST STAR - EMPOWERING DREAMS

In his own words, Sam had given up on dreams until he joined First Star. Now with the help of his peers and mentors, Sam has dreams that he is fullfilling every day.

Sam joined the First Star ASU Academy his junior year and was initially hesitant to participate. By then end of his first year, the Academy had inspried him to continue his education and became involved in his school and in the community. During his senior year he worked hard to apply for scholarships and excel in his classes. He is now a first-year student at Arizona State University studying English and Creative Writing! Sam continues to write poems, present to large audiences in the Phoenix area, and dream.
