Friend,
Every day, we are bombarded with what feels like an endless cycle of heartbreaking news stories one after another, particularly related to immigration. I’m sure you’re no stranger to these headlines. When you care about this work the way we do, these stories impact us that much more.
But what often gets hidden in the thick of these stories are the victories we’ve also experienced as a community, and the many ways your support has helped us to truly push the needle forward and make a difference in the lives of hundreds of immigrant children and their families.
In just these past several months, we've:
*
Advocated
for
children's
safety
,
raising
concerns
about
the
impact
of
the
Biden
Administration's
asylum
ban.
We
partnered
with
other
organizations
to
submit
over
30,000
public
comments
to
the
Biden
Administration,
leading
to
an
exemption
for
unaccompanied
children
from
the
ban.
*
We
achieved
a
monumental
victory
in
our
mission
,
resulting
in
a
policy
change
benefiting
all
children
in
custody.
They
now
have
the
right
to
daily
calls
with
their
parents
and
loved
ones,
with
unlimited
access
during
challenging
times
like
grieving
a
relative's
loss.
The
previous
allowance
of
only
two
10-minute
phone
calls
per
week
led
to
undue
anxiety
and
separation
for
these
children.
*
We
advocated
for
the
Department
of
Justice
to
issue
guidance
to
all
immigration
judges
on
the
role
of
Child
Advocates
in
immigration
court
and
we
won
!
This
was
a
huge
victory
in
our
efforts
to
ensure
immigration
judges
understand
the
essential
role
Child
Advocates
play
in
children's
cases.
Our
staff
also
trained
over
120
immigration
judges
who
oversee
children’s
cases
across
the
country.
There is no doubt that this year we have reached major steppingstones in our fight for immigrant children’s rights, and it’s important we take moments to remember these victories as reminders that have and can continue to create meaningful change. We are so grateful for how you’ve taken action this past year to support our work and your commitment to making a positive difference in these children’s lives. We ask that you continue making an impact by donating to our Giving Tuesday campaign today.
