Breaking news, John:
AIPAC plans to go “all out” and spend $100 million to unseat the Squad next year.
In light of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians, and the Squad’s unified calls for peace and a ceasefire, AIPAC is preparing to spend big money on primary challengers against each of these progressive incumbents in an attempt to unseat them and replace them with centrists who will uphold the status quo.
AIPAC spent $25 million in 2022, but Slate reports they’re preparing to quadruple that spend in 2024. They’ve already recruited moderate candidates to challenge Cori Bush, Summer Lee, Ilhan Omar, and Jamaal Bowman, but are reportedly “still feverishly recruiting” opponents for Rashida Tlaib, AOC, and Ayanna Pressley.
Slate also points out that “small-dollar fundraising numbers are way down across the board, making it even more difficult for those progressives to fund a defense.” That’s where you come in.
If we’re going to mount a defense against this corporate- and Republican-funded, anti-Palestinian lobby group that’s going after our entire bloc of progressive, diverse incumbents in Congress, we need more grassroots donations from people like you.
The Squad needs us now more than ever, and we need them if we’re going to keep up the fight for a ceasefire, Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and so much more.
I know this is a lot of money, and we know we can’t raise $100 million like they can quickly, but we have overcome being outspent before. And we can do it again if we come together to protect what we’ve built these last 5 years. It’s in our hands.
In solidarity,
Alexandra Rojas
