John–
Ms. Regan had been a teacher at my high school for over 30 years before
becoming the head of school. She was tough, but fair, and had a wry sense
of humor. Our school and its community were the heart and soul of her
work.
On March 6, 2012, Ms. Regan was shot and killed in her office by a teacher
who had been fired earlier in the day and then returned to campus with an
AK-47 concealed in a guitar case.
The firearm had been purchased a month earlier at a gun show without a
background check.
A decade later, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
(ATF) has proposed a regulation that would finally close deadly loopholes
like this in our background check system—the same ones that cost Ms. Regan
her life.
But for ATF to finish the job on this life-saving action, we need to show
them we support it. [ [link removed] ]In just two clicks, submit your comment in support
of closing background check loopholes.
93% of Americans support background checks on all gun sales. But for
decades, unlicensed gun sellers have exploited loopholes in our background
check system to sell guns without running background checks—all while we
lose loved ones and members of our communities who we'll never get back.
We're just weeks away from the end of the comment period for ATF's rule.

critical regulation.
People shouldn't have to witness tragedies at school, church, or the
grocery store. By expanding background checks to more gun sales, we can
help keep guns out of the wrong hands and prevent more senseless violence.
Thank you for honoring survivors with action,
