John,

Unlike other GOP-controlled states, Texas does not have a school “voucher” program. That’s not saying our schools get the support they need. But at least we don’t provide vouchers to send public dollars into private schools.

Greg Abbott is trying to change that. Desperate to please his evangelical backers who want state-funded religious education, Abbott called a fourth special legislative session — hoping to pressure two dozen rural Republican representatives and convince them to sacrifice their local schools for the Governor’s political agenda.

But Abbott might lose again. Ground Game Texas and dozens of statewide organizations are pressuring GOP representatives to hold the line. With your donation of $25 or more, we will keep the pressure on Rep. Brad Buckley in Bell County to stop vouchers from becoming law. [[link removed]]

For the last two years we’ve been organizing in Killeen, Texas, hometown of Rep. Brad Buckley, who is chair of the Texas House Education Committee. With your support, we’ve been putting the pressure on Buckley—whose last name is on the local public school district football stadium—by letting him know he will be held accountable if vouchers pass.

Millions of Texas students are counting on our shared fight for public education. Teachers and school workers are counting on us. Everyone who depends on public schools is counting on us.

Victory is in sight — if we can keep the pressure on for two more weeks. Please contribute if you can. [[link removed]] We can win this fight.

A proud product of Texas public schools,
