On this day, November 16th, in 1907, the United States witnessed
the birth of its 46th state, Oklahoma. This historic event marked
the end of a journey that began with the Louisiana Purchase in
1803 when the territory was acquired from France. For years,
Oklahoma had been a melting pot of cultures, home to Native
American tribes, settlers, and pioneers seeking a better life. It
wasn't until the early 20th century that it finally achieved
statehood.
