After criticism and pressure from people like you, Jack, the U.S. Supreme Court adopted its first code of ethics.

In the face of lavish trips and other gifts from wealthy donors to some justices, Daily Kos pushed actions that collectively raise our voices to call for real reform. Finally, after years of relentless work, we got their attention.
Unfortunately our work is not over. This ethics policy is pretty thin and, most importantly, it lacks any means of enforcement or holding any of the justices accountable. Ethical and legal experts have called the code toothless. One expert said "without any kind of enforcement mechanism, this has all the heft of a set of New Year's resolutions."
If we don't continue to apply pressure through effective action, we will never see real reform. The wealthiest in our country will continue to buy influence over the highest court in the land.
Grassroots donations from our readers and activists are our largest source of income to cover our operating expenses. Your donations directly fuel our work and help create progressive change. However, we can keep up this pressure if we can't fund it.
Help us reach our monthly fundraising goal with a donation of $5 or more today so that we can keep not only bringing you the news on topics like the Supreme Court, but we can give you something to do about it, too.
