Dear Neighbors,

This interim has been a time for me to get back into the community and work alongside advocates, organizers, and champions of our community to ensure we are working together toward achieving our goal of making Minnesota the best state for all families. Recently, I was able to join some fearless fighters on the UAW strike line. I was accompanied by Minneapolis teachers, the Federation of Teachers, and UFCW members. Special shout out to Rena Wong from UFCW 663 and Marcia Howard with MFT 59 for organizing! Around the country, Labor movements are rising because those values are becoming increasingly rare without organizing. I will continue to stand with my union brothers and sisters until we have an economy that works for everyone, not the select few!

*More on General Motors and the United Auto Workers (UAW) Strike*

On October 30, 2023, General Motors and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union reached a tentative agreement, ending a six-week strike at the automaker's plants across the United States. The agreement was reached following intense negotiations between the two parties, and it is a tribute to their commitment to working together to achieve a fair and equitable outcome.

The UAW contract agreement with General Motors is a significant victory for American workers, including the thousands of hard-working Minnesotans who are members of the union. I commend both GM and the UAW for their commitment to reaching a fair and equitable agreement. This new contract is a testament to the power of unions to humanize workplaces and ensure that workers have living wages, benefits, and safe working conditions. When we fight, we win!

*Visiting North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale *

I appreciated the opportunity to join my colleagues from the Minnesota legislature on a visit to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. It was great to hear about the important initiatives they are developing and implementing to enhance the quality of care and services they are providing to our community members.

*Interview with Angela Davis on MPR *

I was honored to discuss the Restore the Vote legislation with Antonio Williams on the Angela Davis Show on Thursday morning. We talked about the legal challenges the new law faces, its origins, the work to pass it, and continued efforts to register Minnesotans to vote. If you missed the episode, you can listen to the interview here. [ [link removed]... ]

*Minnesota Values Project Survey*

Almost 7 years ago, the Minnesota House DFL started the Minnesota Values Project (also known as MVP) -- as a partnership between Minnesotans, elected officials and organizations to create a shared vision for the future of our state. Working together, we’ve strengthened our communities by improving education opportunities, making affordable health care a reality, and increasing economic prosperity for all Minnesotans.

Through this project we have facilitated hundreds of meaningful conversations with people across all Minnesota about their priorities. We’re continuing this work and want to engage with as many Minnesotans as possible. Looking ahead to the 2024 legislative session, we’re looking to hear more perspectives and feedback from Minnesotans. As part of this effort, you’re invited to take the new Minnesota Values Project survey.

The survey only takes a few minutes, and as we build a shared vision for our state, your input is crucial in this process. We look forward to hearing from you.
