Hi John,

We want to hear your Owyhee stories! What inspires you to protect the Owyhee Canyonlands? Have you visited them? Tell us about your time spent in the Owyhee Canyonlands. Submit your story to be featured on OLCV’s blog and social media pages. [[link removed]]

Tomorrow (11/16), Senator Wyden’s bill to establish permanent protections for the Owyhee Canyonlands, the Malheur Community Empowerment for the Owyhee Act (S 1890) could get one step closer to becoming a law. It’s up for a vote in committee! This bill is supported by local ranches, hunters, conservation groups, tribal communities, and more-- yet a recent article published by the Oregonian shows Congressman Cliff Bentz opposes it. That’s why we need your help to show through stories the importance of protecting this special place. [[link removed]]

The Owyhee Canyonlands took millions of years in the making, and they now face looming threats that could change them forever — unless we protect it. Share your story about the Owyhee Canyonlands to help show Congressman Bentz and others how deserving this region is of permanent protections. [[link removed]]

As someone who has only seen pictures and videos, and heard stories-- I’m inspired to protect the Owyhee Canyonlands for their sheer natural beauty. I’m also motivated to protect this region to help save the Greater sage grouse, which is under consideration to be listed under the Endangered Species Act. I’m fascinated by these unique birds, and would love to see one in person someday. My Owyhee story is just getting started, and the next chapter is establishing permanent protections. When I eventually visit, I’d like to be able to say that I helped protect it. What’s your Owyhee story? [[link removed]]

I look forward to reading your stories!
