Jack, by the 15th of last month, Daily Kos had raised $260,071 from 29,934 donations. So far this month, we have raised $240,907 from 28,509 donations. That's a difference of $19,164 less than last month from 1,425 fewer donors—this is not good.

As I mentioned in the email below, Daily Kos has struggled to meet our monthly fundraising goals since August. Thankfully, with the support of our readers and activists, we have been able to squeeze past the goal. Unfortunately, the downward trend for November has me worried that for the first time this year we will miss our fundraising goal.

This year, more so than ever before in Daily Kos's twenty year history, we have relied on donations from our community to support our work—these donations account for the majority of revenue to cover our operating expenses. If we miss a monthly fundraising goal, it's possible that we may have to make budget cuts that could affect the quality of our content and actions that you have to expect from us.

I am worried that for the first time this year we will not reach our fundraising goal. We need to raise $211,597 by the end of November. Please support Daily Kos with a donation of $5 or more today.

Jack, I thought back in August we would miss our fundraising goal, then again in September and October. However, by the end of each month, our readers and activists came through and helped us reach our goals.

But I have been dreading this: So far, in November, the number of donations to Daily Kos have fallen off a cliff. What worries me even more is that with the holiday season quickly approaching, we may not see the same end of the month rush that has put us over the top in past months.

What makes this even worse is, like many other news outlets, our advertising revenue has been dropping for years. This year in particular has been rough and we have relied on donations of just a few dollars at a time from readers like you to fuel our work.

Jack, can you help Daily Kos and support our work with a donation of $5 or more?
