Dust off your best outfits and make sure you’re registered to join us virtually [[link removed]] for tomorrow’s 2023 Annual Gala! We’re excited to spend an evening celebrating community with you — an evening of panels, awards, reflection and excitement! Check out the program here [[link removed]].

Our event begins at 3:30 PM ET with Keeping the Promise: The Settings Rule and securing an end to institutions , a panel moderated by Greg Robinson. Our panelists will discuss what this the HCBS Settings Rule means for the autistic and wider disability community, the advocacy that went into fighting for the Rule, and the continued work to secure what is promised by the Rule. Register for this panel here! [[link removed]]

We’ll continue at 5:30 PM ET with How to avoid unraveling: Building trans autistic community care moderated by Alex Grandstaff. Our panelists will talk about building community at the intersections of transness and disability and how trans autistic joy is a form of resistance. Register for this panel here! [[link removed]]

Finally, we’ll end the evening with one of our favorite events — our Gala Awards Ceremony at 7:30 PM ET . Our community does remarkable work in research, community building, and more, and we want to honor as much of that work as we can. This year, we’ll be awarding more honorees than ever before. We’ll also hear remarks by our outgoing Executive Director Julia Bascom, incoming Interim Executive Director Avery Outlaw, and ASAN staff members! Watch the livestream on Youtube tomorrow! Gala tickets are on a sliding scale, so you can pay whatever you are comfortable with. Proceeds from this event every year support our advocacy work and programs for the coming year, and allow us to continue working to empower disabled people across the country. If you are not able to donate, we’re just happy to have you celebrating with us! But if you are able, please consider donating to support our work [[link removed]].

Will we see you tomorrow night? Register for the gala [[link removed]] to be entered into our raffle – prizes include 2 free year-long ASAN memberships and 25 copies of Alice Wong’s book Year of the Tiger: An Activist’s Life — and keep an eye on your email after the gala to see if you won! And don’t forget to register for the panels above to get your attendance links.

Join tomorrow’s conversation with #ASANGala and share your favorite highlights, your commentary, and your outfits tomorrow, Thursday, November 16. Check out our program [[link removed]], and we’ll see you there!
